- Coin Jars in the Class Room
We supply all materials for this campaign.
Example: For years local school districts have raised money for End Summer Hunger by asking students to bring their coins to school to donate to hungry children.
- Hold a silent or live auction at your school, organization or club meeting (3 possibilities)
- Donate all proceeds to Hopelink
- Donate the proceeds of one large item to Hopelink.
- Make Hopelink the recipient of the proceeds from a "Raise the Paddle" portion of your auction.
- Host a rummage or garage sale: easier than an auction and everyone can contribute.
Also a great opportunity for a neighborhood or community fundraiser
- Sponsor a car wash, book sale, bake sale or craft/holiday gift fair
Example: Students at Community Children's Center in Redmond had a book sale.
- Have an "Alternative Gift fair"
Example: Kirkland Interfaith Network and North Shore United Church of Christ are among other groups who hold an annual "Giving Fair" where Hopelink (and other non profits) sell Holiday Cards.
- Dunk Tanks
Collect donations to dunk a favorite teacher or school administrator.
- Ice Cream Sales
Example: Tillicum Middle school sold ice cream bars during lunch time to all the students.
- Share proceeds from a concert, play or dance, fair or picnic, the list goes on...
Example: A Redmond High student, who is a pianist, is arranging a concert where he will perform. An International Community School student is holding a swing dance and inviting fellow students.
- _____ a-Thons: Host a walk-a-thon, bowl-a-thon, etc; collect pledges and donate proceeds:
Example: Liberty High School holds a phone-a-thon every year.
- Have a raffle
Create an item and raffle off it, with the proceeds going to Hopelink.
Example: Elementary Students made squares for a quilt and a parent sewed them together.
- Create a Tootsie Pop Campaign or create and deliver Valentine grams
Example: Holy Family School raised $2,000 using tootsie pops to make bouquets with messages inside. Phantom Lake Elementary created, sold, and delivered candy Valentine grams.
- Combine Art with Philanthropy
Have students make/create something in class to sell at a crafts fair and then donate the profits to Hopelink.
- Matching Funds from a club or organization
Example: A Kirkland Kiwanis Club matched funds raised by a Kirkland High school.
- Send out a letter
Example: One Newport High Senior wrote a letter to her neighbors, friends and family about End Summer Hunger and raised over $2,000. (This can also be done online, see below.)
- Set up an easy web page (or ask us do it for you)

- Have the PTSA give a Pizza Party or Ice Cream Social as a reward for raising a targeted amount.
- Your own special idea!

- Use End Summer Hunger as opportunity to teach philanthropy to students.
- Have campaign during the time students are taught about poverty.
- Provide leadership opportunities for older students by having them serve as ambassadors and mentors to. the younger students. Have them visit the classrooms and/or speak at an assembly about the End Summer Hunger program.
- Using "Peer Tutoring" and pair up students or form groups who share a project for the program; either making a product to sell or a creating the material for the fund drive (coin jars, posters or flyers).
- Don't forget Newspaper Coverage for your School, or PTSA!
Newspapers are looking for schools and organizations to highlight. If you are planning a fundraiser which is unique, notable and/or visible, let us know and we may be able to get press coverage.
